Use case: Cosberg and the future of machinery, between servitisation and revamping

The company is moving towards a business model based on the use of machinery production capacity. To demonstrate this, it has renewed two electronically controlled and AI-controlled workstations.

Organizations involved

Cosberg S.P.A.

Objectives obtained

More modern and advanced electronic devices and the addition of artificial intelligence have made it possible to obtain a “zero defect” process, giving a second life to the plants guaranteeing new and high technological standards.

The challenge

Cosberg S.P.A. since 1982 it has been studying, designing and building machines and modules, with a “tailored” approach, for the automation of assembly processes. These are fast, reliable and flexible machines, essential for automating production processes.

The objectives that Cosberg has always pursued are the reduction of costs, the increase of efficiency and quality, making available customized prototypes for the customer, necessary for the automation of the assembly of both complex pieces and very small units.

In addition to the more modern and recently designed machines, these parameters also had to be guaranteed in the older machines in the catalog and, above all, in those that had already been operating for some time with customers who needed a “revamping” or in any case an important technological update , from an Industry 4.0 perspective in general and from a “servitization” perspective, a new business model that the company aims to adopt as an alternative to the traditional one.

The solution

The proposed solution is explained to us by Michele Viscardi, Business Development Director of Cosberg S.p.A., in this interview by Filippo Astone, an expert journalist on industry and technological innovations, and published on the website www.industriaitaliana.it.

Good vision.
